Northumbria Blood Bikes members are celebrating the appointment of one of their founding local
volunteers as a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the New Year 2016 Honours List,
“For Services to Public Administration and charity”.
Barry Bullas, has been a committee member of the Northumbria Blood Bikes charity since its inception,
and continues to volunteer for them. Barry has been tireless in his efforts as Membership Secretary since
the charity was formed in late 2012, recruiting new members, providing comprehensive inductions
(including regularly driving new members to the more difficult to find but frequently visited venues),
creating a vibrant social media presence, ensuring ‘uniforms’ are provided as well as maintaining
accurate membership records – all in his own time whilst performing his demanding day job for the Civil Service
Northumbria Blood Bikes are extremely proud of Barry and congratulate him for the honour he has
been awarded. We look forward to his continued commitment to the group.
